How we shoot toasters and children’s lamps
Each of us has sometimes seen annoyingly bad pictures in an online store, inaccurate and poorly lit… or pictures that don’t exist. The ones that would otherwise look like what the product really looks like from the back.. or is there a detail in this product that is important to me?
Online stores therefore need a lot of high-quality photos, because online it is the only way to present your products to your customers. However, filming in a traditional studio is slow and due to the large number of photos it is expensive. That’s why often only one picture is taken of the product… and that’s no longer enough for the consumer these days.
We already had Styleshoots in STOODIO to tackle this problem, but they were only designed for clothes and accessories. So how could we shoot products such as bottles, packaging and containers as effectively?
Why Orbitvu?
We researched all possible means by which this could be realized and that’s when we found the Orbitvu photo systems on the market. These are of high quality, but also just as easy to use and efficient as our previous devices. So we decided to invest and get new toys for the studio again.
At the same time we expanded the entire studio so that the logistics would also work better and not be a bottleneck for efficiency.
Orbitvu devices are compact, semi-automatic machines that can be used to ensure that each product image is perfect and that the images are always consistent with each other.
Consistency is indeed one of the most important characteristics of online store images. The pictures must be taken in a controlled manner from the same angle, with the same background and they must be lit consistently. This way, it is easy for the buyer to browse the products and find the information that interests them.
With the help of these automatic systems we also make the shooting process faster, which means cost efficiency, and that means more pictures for the same price.
STOODIO has two Orbitvu devices:
Orbitvu XL
Orbitvu XL is perfect for bags, shoes, bottles and packaging.
Orbitvu Micro
Orbitvu Micro, on the other hand, is great for small products, such as jewelry, cosmetics, watches, tools, gems, and spare parts.
Both Orbitvu devices also allow shooting 360 spins and videos.

Flatlay images always appeal!
Products photographed flat are often the most preferred method of showing products in online stores. With flat lay, you can shoot quickly, consistently, and cheaply. Especially accessories, children’s clothes, all packaging and product arrangements (knolling) are very popular with the flatlay technique.
Vertical image, mannequin image, torso image, invisible mannequin image, floating image; this type of photography has many names.
Most of the clothes we photograph are photographed either on an mannequin or hanging freely on a hanger. This is often the best way to show the consumer or potential customer the product as it was designed. The product fits, hangs and looks exactly as you imagined it.
